American Southwest 2007 - Grand Canyon

The Colorado River has been carving these rocks for millions of years. Sometimes we caught glimpses of it at the bottom of the canyon.

This is one of the trails people use to hike to the bottom of the canyon.

The predominant color is red

It looks as though it goes on forever.

Steve takes a break.

It was a beautiful day, but windy. The clouds kept rolling on by.

We didn't know it yet, but red rocks would become the major theme of this trip.
The Grand Canyon is 277 miles long, and its average width is about 10 miles.
At its deepest point, it is about 6000 feet from the rim to the bottom.

We saw condors soaring in the canyon.
